Welcome to the

Cerebellar disorders

Acquired or inherited disorders of the cerebellum lead to a multitude of symptoms, among them: dysbalance, vertigo, dizziness, blurred vision, double vision, slurred speech, swallowing problems, impaired coordination. To identify the cause of cerebellar disorders in a individual patient, a thorough neurological investigation is required, which includes a collaborative effort with specialists in the fields of neurogenetics, neuro-ophthalmology and neuro-otology. This is an absolute prerequisite for optimal consecutive therapy.

The resources of the Interdisciplinary Center for Vertigo & Balance disorders as well as of the Neurogenetics Unit are available for the diagnosis. There is also a close collaboration with Neuro-Ophthalmology unit of the Department of Ophthalmology. Patients are informed about all pharmacological, physiotherapeutical, ergotherapeutical and logotherapeutical options. If required, patients are seen in regular intervals. Generally, patients are referred to this consultation by the family doctor or a specialist. As an exception, self-referral is possible.
